Scale & Fin

Craig Fearn

I run Scale & Fin, a UK studio that prints anglers' catch photos and fish art to order. Nothing's held in stock: each print is made after somebody buys it.

The writing on this site is mine. The guides, the gift pages and the product descriptions are written here, and they describe what we make. Where a page names a size or a format, it comes from the same catalogue the checkout charges against.

The rule the guides run on

Angling is full of numbers people half remember. The rule here is simple: a fact carries a link to the body that published it, or it goes. Record weights come from the official record committee's list. If I can't find the source, the sentence doesn't run.

What we make

Three things, all printed to order. Your catch photo, printed as it is. Your catch photo in a house style, with a free preview before anybody pays. And a collection of fish plates and bankside scenes for anyone without a photo to hand.

What I write about

Getting hold of me

Corrections are the useful kind of email. If a fact here is out of date, I'd rather hear it from a reader. hello@scaleandfin.co.uk reaches me.

Questions, answered

Who writes the guides on this site?
I do. The guides, the gift pages and the product copy are written here rather than bought in.
Where do the facts come from?
From the body that publishes them. Record weights come from the British Record (rod-caught) Fish Committee, close season dates from the Angling Trust. Each source is linked on the page that uses it, or the fact is cut.
Will you name the water a fish came from?
No, unless you typed it in yourself. Venues are an angler's own business.
