The photo he still talks about
Every dad who fishes has one fish he comes back to. Ask his fishing mate which. Then find the photo.
An old paper print is fine. Lay it flat in good daylight and photograph it straight on, or use a scanner. Then upload it to print it as it is, and the upload tool will tell you which sizes the copy can support.
Old photos: getting a good copy
Turn off the flash and stand over the print, phone held flat, so it doesn't come out as a wedge shape. Daylight from a window, coming in from one side, avoids glare on glossy paper, so take a few shots and keep the sharpest. A scanner set to a high resolution gives the cleanest result.
A small old print won't stretch to a big poster. Expect A4 or A3. Let the upload tool decide.
If he took you fishing
A photo of the two of you on the bank, years ago, can mean more than any trophy shot. It doesn't need a big fish in it. Print it as it is. The memory does the rest.
If the photo's faded or has a colour cast, leave it. Those old oranges and browns are part of the picture, and fixing them can make it look like someone else's photo.
His latest PB
Still catching? Use the newest photo, since phone cameras have come a long way and a recent shot will usually print bigger than an old one. See it in a house style with a free preview, and check the fish before you approve it. Every scale. The field plate suits a study. The pencil study suits a hallway, and it handles a busy background well. Our catch photo guide explains which shots print best.
His water stays his
Lots of anglers keep their best waters quiet. A photo print carries nothing but the photo: no venue, no weight, no date. A PB print adds his weight and date, and leaves the venue off unless you type it. If the photo shows a sign or a landmark that gives the water away, crop it out before you approve the print. Nobody needs to know where he caught it.
Framing it for him
A framed poster arrives ready to hang, at A3 or A2, in a black or natural wood frame. For a bigger statement, framed canvas comes in black, dark wood or natural wood, up to 50x70 cm. Our print sizes guide lists the outside measurements, so you can check the space first.

Father's Day
You can't fish for coarse fish on rivers in England from 15 March to 15 June, under the GOV.UK rod fishing rules. The rivers reopen on 16 June. Father's Day follows a few days later, so a print of a river fish lands at the right moment. A barbel or a chub suits a river angler. Checkout shows when it'll arrive.
Christmas
For winter gifts and when to order, see Christmas fishing gifts. A photo printed as it is doesn't wait for a preview, so it's the quicker choice if you've left it late.
