Their best fish of the year
Ask around, quietly, at the club or on the bank. Their fishing mates will know which fish made the season, and one of them will usually have the photo on their phone as well. Find the photo and get the original file, then print it as it is or see it in a house style first.
Not sure the photo's good enough? Upload it. Free. The tool shows which sizes it'll print well at before you spend anything. Can't ask without giving the game away? Try the tricks in our guide to getting their photo.
No photo? Their PB, set in type
Plenty of good fish never got a proper photo. A PB print doesn't need one. Choose the species plate, then type the weight, who caught it and the date, plus a line of your own if you like. It's the easiest Christmas present to get right without asking, because a fishing mate will know the weight. Check it to the ounce. Our personalised fishing gifts guide shows how to find the details quietly.
When to order for Christmas
Every print is made to order, so nothing's sitting in a warehouse waiting. A photo printed as it is goes straight into production, but a styled print waits for your approval, so give it a few days. Start early. The last order dates show at the top of this page and in your basket. UK delivery is free. Delivery and returns has the full terms.
Winter scenes
Frost on the swim. A pike river at first light. See all our fishing scenes, and for the anglers still out in it, our winter carp fishing guide. Winter is pike season for a lot of anglers, and the Wildlife Trusts describe a fish that can grow past a metre long. A pike plate beside a frosty river scene makes a pair for a predator angler's wall. Same height. A hand's width apart.

Framed or on canvas. Of everything under the tree, a print of their own fish is the one they'll still be looking at next Christmas.
By the kind of angler
Ask what they fish for. A carp angler will want a mirror or a common: see carp fishing gifts. A fly angler will want a brown trout, which the Wildlife Trusts describe as golden-brown with pale-ringed dark spots. A sea angler will want a bass or a mackerel. Buying for a woman who fishes? The rule's the same: buy for the fishing she does, and our women's fishing guide has the background. Around 80% of sea-caught fish go back, according to the Angling Trust, so a print keeps the catch.
A first Christmas with a rod
Buying a first rod for a child? Check the licence rules first. Under-13s need no licence, and a 13 to 16 year old's is free from GOV.UK. After that it's a full licence, private water included. Then, when that first fish comes in spring, print the photo as it is. It's the start of a collection.
Secret santa and advent calendars
Drawn an angler in the office secret santa? Our secret santa guide keeps it cheap, and you won't need to know a thing about their tackle. Most office limits are small, so start with the under £20 list above, where every price is live and matches checkout. We don't sell advent calendars, but our fishing advent calendar guide compares the kinds you'll find and what to check before you buy one. Hook sizes matter more than the box.
A note on cold weather
Winter sessions are hard on fish as well as anglers. Angling Times advises an unhooking mat, wet hands and a kneeling hold for every photo. If your angler is out over Christmas, a quick photo with the fish low over the mat is the one worth printing. Return the fish first. Print the photo later. Our catch photo guide covers night and winter shots.
