A personalised fishing mug from their photo
Upload the catch photo and choose the mug, and the crop step will show you exactly what prints before anything is made. Keep the fish in the middle and leave a little room round it, because a mug curves away at the edges.
Want it in a house style first? See the photo as art, then pick the mug as your product when you approve the preview you like best. Try the tackle catalogue style. Two colours read well at mug size.
Which photo works on a mug
A mug is wide and short, so a wide photo works best. The classic catch shot does that already: angler kneeling, fish held flat across the body. Angling Times warns against cutting off the tail or the mouth, and that matters even more on a mug.
A tall phone photo still works, but you'll lose the top and bottom. Faces near the top can get cropped. Check the preview.
Mugs for a club or a match
Clubs and syndicates often have a photo everyone knows: the biggest fish of the season, or the winning weight from the annual match. Put it on a few mugs for the committee, or for the bailiffs who give up their weekends. Each mug is made to order, so order them together and check the crop once. It's a cheap thank you that people keep.
Mugs from the collection
No photo? Every species plate in the collection comes on a mug as well as on paper and canvas. The scenes are tall pieces, so they stay on the wall. A mirror carp suits a carp angler's van, and a mackerel suits anyone who's spent a summer evening fishing off the harbour wall.
Not sure which species? See our carp prints or sea fishing prints to match the fish to the angler.

A mug makes a good stocking filler or a secret santa present, because it's personal without needing you to know anything about tackle. Our stocking fillers guide has more, and our secret santa guide keeps to a small budget.
A first fish on a mug
A child's first fish is often small, and the photo's often rushed. That's fine on a mug. It's a present a young angler will use every day, and it'll still be in the cupboard years later. Print the photo as it is, so the moment stays exactly as it was. If there's a parent or grandparent in the shot, keep them in.
Mug or print?
A mug gets used every day. A print gets looked at every day. If the angler has a PB photo they're proud of, a framed print does it justice, and the mug can come later. If you're on a budget, or the photo's a bit soft, start with the mug. Small prints forgive a lot.

Getting the photo right
A mug is small, so even a modest phone photo usually prints well. Use the original file, not a screenshot. Messaging apps shrink photos, so ask whoever took it to send the original. Carpology adds that shots taken in the water often get more even light, which shows up well on a mug. Our catch photo guide explains more, including how to set up a self-take that fits a mug's shape.
