Father's Day fishing gifts: start with his best fish
Ask his fishing friends which fish he still talks about, then find the photo. It may sit on a phone, in a club group chat or in a shoebox. Our guide to getting the photo covers the discreet routes. When you have it, upload it and the preview shows which sizes it supports.
The fish he chases
If there is no photo, choose the species. The carp prints, pike prints, coarse fish prints and trout and salmon prints each show a fish as a naturalist would draw it. If you are unsure which he fishes for, ask someone, or see the identification guide for the differences.
A smaller gift
A fishing mug carries the same artwork for less. Pair it with a rod licence if his has lapsed, since the licence guide explains the types and he cannot use it past its end date.
Leave the tackle alone
Hooks, lines and bait are personal. Unless he has written a list with exact sizes, a print or a day on the water will land better. A voucher for a day ticket at his favourite water works too.
Leave time for the print
Every piece is made to order, and a styled print waits for your approval of the preview. Start the photo hunt a few weeks before 20 June. The fishing gifts for dad page has the full range, and the fishing gifts hub sorts it by who you are buying for.
Craig Fearn runs Scale & Fin, a UK studio that prints anglers' catch photos and fish art to order. He writes the guides here, and every fact in them links to the body that published it.
